Javid scraps mandatory vaccinations for social care staff
A policy shift is expected following consultations with subject-matter experts and industry professionals to ensure that older people are able to stay in their homes as they age while still being provided quality support by unvaccinated caregivers
Great news that the government has decided to make a U turn on the jab policy which has almost crippled the health care industry. Most care workers and nurses in the health sector were ready to walk away from their jobs because of the mandatory jab.
Currently, there is a massive shortage of staff across the board and to recruit qualified staff is a nightmare. Organizations are fighting for staff, and the government introduced a sponsorship package that industry can now recruit and employ from abroad.
This has been welcomed by so many companies that are struggling to get qualified staff. We are happy to have recruited staff we needed at the time but now we also feel the pressure that the services users are feeling when it comes to recruiting private PA’s.
This government initiative, coupled with the jab U-turn, the industry will be able to recover and have staff they require.
